Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Paradigm you podcast.

Speaker 2:

You're listening to the Paradigm you podcast. This is episode 142. It's been a while since we've connected. To say that life is new and better and different for me would be an understatement. In fact, no one is more surprised than I am on where life is at and where I've landed. If you've been listening to this podcast for a while, you know that I am a student of life. I like to throw spaghetti at the walls and see what sticks. I like to try new things and really push myself out of my comfort zone on a regular basis, which at times might send me down some really unique rabbit holes. On today's episode, I'm going to share with you where I've been, what I've been up to, and we are going to get deep together. Listen in, hey dad, bring us in.

Speaker 3:

You're listening to the Paradigm you podcast. You're about to start transforming your life by growing your mind and expanding your paradigms. Here we'll cover real life topics, just like the stuff you'd share with a good friend. This podcast will serve up topics that weigh on our hearts and keep us up at night, whether it's navigating parenthood and becoming an adult, or wayfinding, personal development, marriage and money. You, my friend, are in the right place. If you're wanting a lot more in life to feel better, to heal, to have peace of mind, to feel powerful in the life and to bring more abundance and prosperity in your life, then this podcast is for you. Here we'll offer the opportunity to shift your paradigms by growing your mind, and when you do that, anything you want becomes possible for you. I'm glad you're here.

Speaker 2:

All right, as promised, welcome back to the Paradigm you podcast. I am so excited to share with you what has been up and what is going on in my world. You see, after quite a bit of time of coasting through my comfort zone and throwing spaghetti at a whole bunch of walls, I found myself in a really unique spot. I don't know about you, but if you've ever found yourself like in a new season of life and you barely recognize yourself, you could relate. I found myself asking what's next, what's now and what should I be doing. The questions led me down quite a few rabbit holes and if you know a little bit about the journey, though, that I've been on the last few years, if you've been listening for a while, you know that I really like to get deep. I like to dive into the spiritual side of things and explore the transformational work that will allow me to go to the next level of my life. As you know, I am a personal growth nerd. I like to geek out on all of this and I love this work anyways, but the last few months in fact, most of this year has been unlike anything I had experienced before and, as part of the work, naturally it led me to internalize, to internally retreat a little bit so that I could recalibrate the cool part. Well, I'm back. I am ready to share with you all of the crazy that has happened, all of the internal work that I have done and what I've learned. Why would I share all of this and be crazy vulnerable? Well, if you've been listening, you know all about that and you know the answer to that why. It is so that I can pave the way and encourage anyone who is needing to also go on a journey like this. So where have I been? Well, if you recall, at the beginning of 2023, I was hitting my stride pretty intensely. I had just co-authored a book and had been invited to participate in an amazing experience that allowed me and eventually led me, to be embracing this really unique title of bestselling author. That's a little strange to say still and I'm how? Many months into it, but I am officially a bestselling author.

Speaker 2:

I was presenting workshops on the reg, you guys. It was so exciting, and I was doing so many strategy sessions and helping so many people step into who they were meant to be, to figure out what they wanted in life and to helping them, you know, map out the plan of what that was. My coaching client list had hit a wait list, which was a good and bad thing. I mean, as anybody in any kind of business knows, you're going to have growth and you're going to get into those like bumping spots where you're hitting resistance. I don't love having a wait list. I love helping people, but I don't love it when I have to turn people away or ask them to wait. It's flattering in one hand, but at the other hand, the part that probably drives the bus in my world. I just I want to help as many people as I can, but I also have been a student of learning how to guard my capacity On top of all of those cool things that were happening.

Speaker 2:

As many of you know, I'm a real estate investor and I own a quite a substantial portfolio of properties that needed attention. I had some really cool opportunities that were coming to the forefront, including opportunities to help so many people who wanted to get into real estate investing and, in fact, we partnered with someone on one of their first investment properties and, you guys, it was so exciting to watch them experience some amazing wealth building just by the tools that we could provide for them. It was really fun, and now we're managing that property through our management company, and the onboarding process of that investment property was such an eye-opener. It was not the largest property that we own and manage, however. We've not partnered with somebody in this way and shape before, so I wanted to make sure that I built it out really thoughtfully, being really respectful and making sure that we cross all the T's and dotted all the I's On top of all of that. On the flip side, with regards to Paradigm U, I became a certified hypnotherapist, and not only did I get that certification and obtain so much knowledge about how we can reprogram our minds, just through different tools and modalities. I had this really cool opportunity. You guys, I don't want to toot my own horn, but I'm just gonna pause for just a minute and say this was super cool. Not only did I receive that certification in that education, but I also was able to help coordinate a program that educated so many others on that same topic. Okay, so that was a lot right, like that was all happening in quarter one of this year.

Speaker 2:

But personally, I was receiving a lot of recognition and, equally, realizing that receiving compliments and recognition was a little tricky for me, I had to really start believing it instead of just receiving it, and so I had to do some of the personal work and the deeper transformational work to recognize that you know what it's okay to receive recognition and it's okay to be doing some really cool things, especially the things that were lighting me up. But equally, I was bumping into capacity and, as you know, that is an area that I wrestle with. I tend to add so much to my plate and then all of a sudden realize, whoa, hold on, I've added so much and so many cool things that I've hit my capacity level. So not only did I hit my capacity level and have to do some personal, deep work, I also was bumping into a little bit of the family stuff. So we were coming into summer and I don't know about you, but in my area so I live in the Midwest and for us, if you have young children, you need to start thinking about what you want to do with your kids pretty much January, february and March To think about and plan for what you're going to do in the summer. So I had to start thinking through and signing my kids up for camps and schedules and, you know, mapping out what out of routine would look like for us, while also making sure that I was guarding my values and choosing to do things and live a life that was in line with the life that I was working to create. Okay, so that's a lot. If you are a parent who knows about mapping out and signing your kid up for summer camps, let's just take like a big breather just for that one right Now.

Speaker 2:

On top of that, my body started not feeling so great and I started exploring what was actually happening with my body at a hormonal level. That's interesting and that is for another episode because I have learned a whole lot about the effects and how your body can feel as you're going through different seasons of life, and I am in my early 40s and navigating a whole new adventure of hormones and what that actually does to our bodies and our minds and how we need to take care of ourselves. And lastly, we got a puppy. You may have seen the pictures I posted online back this spring and you know we knew what we were signing up for, but, holy cow, has it been a lot of work. It's been so many years since I had a puppy and it does feel very much like having a baby at home, like you have to puppy proof your home and they're doing damage to things and you're cleaning up all of their stuff. So all of this, to say that you're going to be able to do things.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to say that there was a lot of awesomeness happening in my life, but I also needed to pause for a minute, just like I need to do right now. I needed to recalibrate to make sure that I could manage all of the things that I was adding to my plate in a thoughtful way, because that is the work that I've been doing lately. I wanted to make sure that I could work through this season and I could grow really thoughtfully, which means I had to turn in for a little bit. I had to retreat, and one of the parts that was probably the hardest was I had to stop recording podcasts, not because I don't love it, but because it was not in line with what I needed to focus on. I needed to reevaluate where I was going and why. I needed to realize that I had been going really hard, but the goal that I had had become unclear, because I had hit all of these goals that I was working towards.

Speaker 2:

It's so interesting when you start to make a plan and you start to have vision and you start to do all of the deep work to really understand what might be holding you back, and you eliminate all of those roadblocks, you start going fast, you guys, and I was going really fast and I was checking off all of the things that I wanted to accomplish, which was amazing. You guys, I still can't believe and it still catches me off guard to say that I am considered a bestselling author. It's still wild to me and I have to almost pause for a moment and really think is this true when somebody will introduce me as a certified hypnotherapist? That it's just wild to me. I never would have guessed that those are things and accomplishments that would be on my resume. And here we are. I set the goal, I worked through the process and I've achieved them.

Speaker 2:

But what happened was, as my real estate investing grew, as our masterminds that I led grew, as all of the coaching clients that I was working with started to see all of this amazing success, I needed to recalibrate. I needed to take a pause, set my sights on what I was working towards and why, and then I had to rewrite the entire plan. I had to remap out a plan of where I was going and how I was going to get there, and I had to start immediately. So I went back to learning mode. It's been a while since I was in learning mode.

Speaker 2:

I feel like I had moved into this almost expert mode on so many different topics, but that wasn't serving me anymore. I wasn't being a student and I wasn't continuing to grow in the areas that I needed to grow because I was so busy helping others. So I had to pause for a little bit and I had to really recalibrate where I was going and what I was doing, making sure that I was in line with my values. So you might be thinking like, holy cow, okay, you did all of this, but then how did you get through all of that? And how have I landed here A couple months later, armed and ready to be back?

Speaker 1:

Hey, thanks for listening. All you parents, moms, dads and even kids. You're all doing a great job. And now back to the show.

Speaker 2:

There's some power in being vulnerable, and I started being vulnerable again. I started recognizing that there were so many things that I did not know and there was a lot of foundational work that still needed to be done. I needed to build a really firm foundation because I had been growing all of our businesses and myself and my families in so many ways that we were really living a completely different life that I barely even recognized. It was incredible and equally it was a lot. Just onboarding a property that is a commercial like a shopping center, with all of these new tenants and all of these new vendors, that alone felt like a lot. You know what's crazy? We actually closed on that shopping center the same day. We got a little yellow lab puppy. That's a lot too. I'm not sure which ones more work, but they're both incredible. But because I was hitting all of these amazing goals, I also was kind of bumping up into the resistance again, and you've probably heard me talk about resistance. But I think one of the things that was most interesting was I think I was hitting some upper limits and on the last episode you probably heard me talk about upper limits in some ways and I hope that you were able to really reflect on your own life and ask yourself where have I hit upper limits and how can I work through those? Well, I had hit some upper limits because I was achieving these amazing achievements and I was doing these really cool things. But then I think I really did start to self-sabotage in some ways because I hadn't done some more of the work. But I didn't know that work until I got there. So here's the kicker you won't know what the new challenge is until you get to the top of that mountain and you realize what's beyond it. That's what had happened for me. So when I started to realize that I was bumping up against resistance, when I started to realize that I needed to recalibrate, I went back to what I knew. I went back to learning and growing, asking people for advice and insight, doing a lot of informational interviewing and really connecting myself and surrounding myself with people that could help me grow. But also here's the kicker Well, there's a couple of things that I think were the most valuable One.

Speaker 2:

I had to go back to my entire plan and my entire day and how I was using my time and recalibrate and say, okay, is this a good use of my time. Is this in line with where I wanna go next? So I had to take quite a few things off of my plate because so many additional things had been added. I also had to ask myself, for example, am I willing to continue to add coaching clients, or do I need to maybe recalibrate how I am coaching people and how am I being of service to these clients? So I had to recalibrate and really change that plan. I needed to increase my prices, because that was a big piece of it too, which I think also really kinda messed with my mind. If we're being honest with each other. I had to really ask myself okay, do I value myself enough so that I can charge the prices that I need to charge, so that I can continue to do the work that I'm doing and make sure that I am being of service and pouring value into other people? These are really interesting grownup conversations to ask yourself and to be in conversation with, and so, as I was navigating a lot of this, I realized that I needed to lean on others who are working through their own pieces of their puzzle.

Speaker 2:

I went back to what I knew and I went back to my secret weapon, which was rewiring my brain for what I wanted. I started listening to hypnosis on focus, organization and self-belief. Yeah, you wouldn't guess it, I feel like I get people saying all the time they're like whoa, you struggle with confidence. Yeah, when you start hitting some of these upper limits, you're like holy cow, how did I do this? Yeah, well, for me it's definitely a hypnosis on self-belief that really helps me. But lately it's been on focus.

Speaker 2:

I needed to make sure that some of my other businesses were organized. I needed to make sure that everything, in a foundational way, was well-equipped to handle the growth. But I'm not talking about one or two steps ahead. I started realizing I need to look six to 10 steps ahead of where I'm at right now, because what I had been doing, and what you've probably heard me advocate for, is, if you wanna go somewhere, if you wanna achieve something, you need to start being that person. Well, I was being that person. But that person that I was being did not anticipate the challenges that came when, all of a sudden, you own a multi-multi-million-dollar investment portfolio. That's kinda crazy to say out loud. You don't know what kind of challenges are gonna come when, all of a sudden, now you're a best-selling author and you have clients just waiting to get on your list so that you can meet with them and do coaching sessions. Those are cool things to bump into, but that means that you need to recalibrate and continue to grow.

Speaker 2:

And for me, I crave foundation, I crave organization, I crave focus and clarity, so much so that not only did I start using my hypnosis and leaning on that resource again, I started tapping into the people that were going to help guide me to the next level. I started collaborating a little bit more than I usually were or, excuse me, was were collaborating more than I had been, I should say, and partnering on a couple ways. And now I feel so much more aligned. I feel more aligned now than I probably ever have. I feel like I know exactly where I'm going, I feel like I'm in integrity with myself and I am disciplined and motivated, focused and energized to do what I know I need to do.

Speaker 2:

It wasn't easy. In fact, one of the biggest pieces during this whole journey, the last few months while I was recalibrating, was this feeling like I was missing the podcast, I was missing all of you and I was missing the opportunity to share my journey, because I really believe as I'm sharing my journey. It's inspiring you to reflect on your journey. It's inspiring you to start asking yourself some of those hard questions like what path do I move forward on? Please give me clarity on where I'm headed. Help me to remove the fear or any of those low vibrations that might be holding me back. There are so many topics that I feel like I've explored and I've discussed on this podcast that I've heard back from listeners and you guys are just so gracious with your compliments. But equally, I am so inspired to hear the work that you're doing, to know that you are leaning into your unique gifts so that you can make an impact and create expansion on this planet. That's pretty cool for me and it is such a compliment and an honor when I get to hear that.

Speaker 2:

So you can imagine how hard it was for me to not be doing a podcast for how many months, knowing that I could get back to it and I would get back to it. But for the meantime, I needed to focus and put my head down and really make sure that I built out a strong foundation so that we could grow and take our lives and our business to the next level. Well, I'm happy to say I've done the hard work. For the last few months I've had my head down. I've been focusing on the plan, creating the plan, working the plan, and now I'm watching the plan unfold and the exciting part that means that I now have the capacity and the space to record this podcast for you. I get to talk with you and reconnect with all of you, and I'm so excited to share where it's going. Now, I'm not going to share all of that today because then, as you know, I will get long winded and I will just go on and on about how excited I am about where we're going and what the plan and the map are unfolding.

Speaker 2:

But in the meantime, here's what I want to do. I want to encourage you. I want to invite you to ask yourself are you hitting any of those upper limits that I talked about in the last episode? And if you are hitting those limits, what is causing you to hit those limits and what needs to take place so that you can move forward? For me, I was hitting those upper limits and I needed to get back to some foundational work. I needed to go back to the things that were lighting me up and fulfilling me on a personal level. I needed to recalibrate and reorganize and, in fact, I needed to hire a director of operations, which I'm so excited about. You guys, I don't think she listens to this podcast Well, I guess I've not asked, so maybe I should but between you and I, I totally manifested this person.

Speaker 2:

I have been working on envisioning having this person step into our businesses for quite a few months. I used all the power of visualization and channeling my energy and feeling the vibration that came with achieving this goal. And, you guys, I'm living it now. For the last month and a half-ish, I have been in deep training mode, bringing on a director of operations for our team to oversee our team, to oversee a lot of the day-to-day stuff that happens, so that I can lean into my purpose, so that I can lean into my incredible gifts and empower her to lean into her incredible gifts and empower her to also equally empower the rest of our team, so that we can all be of service for you, so that we can be of service to all of the investors that collaborate with us, so that we can be of service for all of our tenants and any of our properties, so that we can be of service for our coaching clients as well as our partners. There are so many people that we are connected to, and it is such an honor and it's important to me to make sure that I am an integrity and our entire business is an integrity that we are showing up fully, and this is important.

Speaker 2:

You guys, having fun Work can be work, and sometimes you gotta put your head down and get stuff done. I get that, but at the end of the day, it needs to really raise your vibration, it needs to be fun, it needs to allow you to lean into your unique gifts, and if it's not, then maybe you need to recalibrate, just like I did. I'll be honest one of the things that guides me is that I believe an incredible life is available for all of us, and I also believe that it is my ethical obligation to lean into my unique gifts so that I can support others. Here's the interesting thing we all have this available for us. You have this available to you. You, my friend, are here on purpose. You are here to do some incredible things. I really believe that to my core, and if there are things that are holding you back from stepping into who you are meant to be.

Speaker 2:

I want to invite you to take a moment to really reflect on what that looks like for you. Get quiet and get honest with yourself. Ask yourself what is holding me back, what might I be bumping into, and what path do I need to go down so that I can step into the role that I am meant to be and be of service in this world in the unique ways that I am able to offer my value? We're all pretty different and we're all hardwired completely different, but we all can contribute in unique ways, and that's pretty exciting for me, and I cannot wait to show you and to share with you all of the unique things that we are going to be doing over here at Paradigm U. It's pretty exciting and I'm honored that you continue to join me on this journey. It's a good one and it's so exciting to go on this journey together. So, thank you, I'm honored and I appreciate each of you, and, on that note, I am going to say cheers to good karma. Hey, this is April. Thank you so much for listening to today's podcast.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to lie and tell you that what I've gone through has been easy. It hasn't. It's been tricky. Speaker 1:
