Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Paradise. New Podcast.

Speaker 2:

In the professional development space, we talk a lot about habits, about how do we acquire those behaviors that we can regularly follow with ease, but we have one month left of 2023. The easiest place to see where your habits are, if you feel like you don't understand your habits, is to simply look back and say, okay, well, what habits have I created in the last 11 months for myself, with my money, with my exercise or fitness, with my relationships, right Even career? This is a big one. What sort of habits have formed in our career or our business? What kind of habits have you created around your weight, your health, self-talk, thoughts, even hiding?

Speaker 2:

This is a big one for women. What kind of habits have you created around hiding or speaking up for yourself, or boundaries or people pleasing different sides of the spectrum? And so I feel like that is a really great place for people to start is to say I don't even maybe understand my habits because they are on autopilot. Cool, take a pause. Look back on the 11 months, look at your life, look at your environment and see what's around, and then simply recognize that's just a habit pattern. And then I would like to invite people to consider what is the number one habit you could create for yourself to bring you the biggest impact in your life or business in 2024. Because creating that habit actually starts now, not on January 1st but now You're listening to the Paradigm you Podcast.

Speaker 3:

You're about to start transforming your life by growing your mind and expanding your paradigms. Here we'll cover real life topics, just like the stuff you'd share with a good friend. This podcast will serve up topics that weigh on our hearts and keep us up at night, whether it's navigating parenthood and becoming an adult or wayfinding person, of development, marriage and money. You, my friend, are in the right place. I'm glad you're here.

Speaker 4:

All right, well, welcome to the Paradigm you Podcast. This is a really exciting week. I'm so excited because we are wrapping up the series on harnessing the power of your subconscious, and what better topic to wrap it up than your habits? My friends, let me just be clear your habits define your environment. Your environment, your current life, is a reflection of the habits that you do or do not have present in your life. So if you're wanting to change something, changing your habits is going to be the key. So today, lisa and I are going to talk to you about our current experiences with habits. We're going to do it in a little bit of a more unique way. So, lisa, you ready? We're going to do a little bit more of a raw recording this week and we're going to just talk. We're going to talk about our habits, what has supported us, what needs to be recalibrated and where to go from here. All right, lisa, what do you think?

Speaker 2:

Like this is what's been on my heart, because I'm like what kind of habits have I been witnessing for myself the last 11 months, especially with our partnership right, and what kind of ripple effect does that have in my life? And then, what habits have formed out of that which you know, habits only have the meaning that we give it and that's maybe a topic for another day. But, yeah, what's come out of it for you? When you reflect so much greatness, I mean growth, and it's interesting to when you really do get pushed outside your comfort zone, you start to see all the old habits come up and how some still serve you and some definitely don't and just need to go away. But having the awareness and the ability to say these old habits serve me to now, but if I continue them, I am going to continue to have the same outcome that I've always had and that's going to be for me in business, that meant burnout. I'm going to radically burnout. I'm going to burn down my business. I'm going to burn through relationships. I'm going to not be present with my family and have distance there with my kids, and I don't want any of that now. And so what does that look like? No-transcript how, what, what new habit needs to form to get the biggest return?

Speaker 2:

The one habit, the singular focus, the mono task that I can concentrate on. What is it? It's? It's something around organization and how to roll things out. I'm typically one to sprint and so like let's have this huge goal and let's sprint towards it, versus all right, let's, let's continue to like, keep building the programs and our clients and our followers, while also building the strong foundation for the business. You know, I usually build the program and the followers and then try to like catch up with the other stuff, and that is a way to launch a business, no doubt, but I've just done it that way so often that it just doesn't stick long term for me, because at some point you're so busy you just don't have time to catch up to the other foundational things, and so it just kind of drives me crazy.

Speaker 4:

How about you? Everything you just said is so applicable to so many people. That's why the majority of businesses fail in the first five years. Yeah, everything you just said is the reason that most people who get into business can't get it off the ground far enough to create sustainability.

Speaker 2:

You know there's this concept in business I know you've heard a million times which is you know, build the ship once you launch or build the airplane as you're flying. There's some truth to that, but I've just learned that I can't always do that right. There are certain elements of the business that you can't constantly be doing that with. You know there's things behind the scenes that really need to be in place. It doesn't mean you can't change the tech platforms or evolve those things as you grow. It just means just pause a hot second. I'm not even talking about a fancy website or any of that that you don't need when you first launch, especially as a coach or a consultant, but what you do need. I think it's important, especially for me now at this phase, to just say let me learn from my past Again. Those habits taught me what happens, and so now I can build different and new habits to create a different result.

Speaker 4:

I appreciate you. This is so good and this is so applicable to so many entrepreneurs and for women in particular. They don't spend a whole lot of time looking back and reflecting. It's constantly the looking forward, and that's actually not just women in particular, I think everybody. But I think women have this like I got to keep going. I got to keep going, I got to look at what's next instead of pausing and celebrating. So when you just said, I know what my patterns are, I can see the path that I've been on and now I can see how to tweak and adjust it to get that maximum efficiency, that's just exciting.

Speaker 2:

It is, and it's a fun space to go. Okay, I'm capable and willing to do this differently and to enjoy that process. I think so often we can make that work drudgery like, oh, I'm trying to be someone, I'm not or I don't know. We make up all these crazy stories that keep us in our little box and to keep us hiding, and none of it's true, it's just a habit. It's just what do you want? And sometimes you can't see those patterns because you're too in it and you don't have people around you. And so that's why I've been grateful for the women in elevate when they speak up and ask questions and they're willing to see something different and willing to do something different. You know, sometimes you just need that partner. Like you apes, I need you. You're always pointing the way, oh gosh.

Speaker 4:

Well, it's interesting that you say that, because I feel like, as we're growing our business, I'm not pausing long enough to look back. So this conversation is just such a good reminder to just say okay, let's look at where we've been, what we've done, what's worked and what hasn't, and what we want differently this time, because we get to choose.

Speaker 2:

It's a great time of year for it. If all we're doing at this phase of the year is reflecting back to recognize patterns and identify what we want, moving forward, especially as business owners, but equally as human beings, moving forward into 2024, you're winning. This isn't a time of year to be launching a million new things and running yourself ragged. This is a time especially we're here in the Midwest, where it's cold. This is a hibernating time, a time to go inside and be reflective. It's a powerful time and it's one that, if you use it well and if you are able to really hone the ability of habits, especially with subconscious reprogramming, as we've been talking about all month, 2024 is going to be a phenomenal year.

Speaker 4:

I really liked what you said about looking back. This is the time to pause and be reflective and turn inward. You're absolutely right with seasonality. We're all. I mean that's what plants are doing right now. They're going inward, they're like regrouping and just taking a pause to just let it all kind of wash through you so that you can actually start next year.

Speaker 2:

well, but going back to your analogy about the plants. I was thinking about that the other day and I thought the trees without leaves they're not there judging themselves right now, this time of year. They're just like. I'm just doing my thing, I'm in my natural cycle, I will come back in spring, and so I think the ability as humans and business owners and women to release the judgment oof what if we just looked back at everything and looked at our habits in 2023 and it was simply data. It just showed us what we were doing or not doing. That's it. That's it. That's all it is, and then we can just choose how to tweak the data For some that might feel right.

Speaker 2:

No judgment, and for some that might feel impersonal. For me that just takes the judgment and shame around it. That's so many people feel.

Speaker 4:

And I'm guessing a lot of people are myself included. When you're in more group settings, which I know, I feel like I'm more exposed to different groups and different people this time of year, and then it I wouldn't even say it's a judgment. It's more of a comparison. Yeah, like oh, which then leads to judgment right, right, you're like, oh, okay, well, they're doing this, well have, why am I not doing that? Yes, what am I doing wrong? Yes, so you know what you want and you've identified where you're being met with resistance. Now it's time to start applying those habits, or releasing the habits, so that you can move forward into what you want and recalibrate.

Speaker 2:

Is it specifically the habit of subconscious reprogramming, or what, what? What specific tool?

Speaker 4:

I love that, but that wasn't where I was going. Okay, it was more of how do we tie this topic of habits into the series that we named subconscious reprogramming.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I think I think calling that out like this is this this whole series has led to this moment. If you want 2024 to be different, based on looking back at your 2023, then the one habit so right, like okay. So I'm asking, I'm asking our listeners hey, consider what the number one habit is that you could create for yourself to bring you the biggest impact next year in your life or your business, whatever you're focusing on and the spoiler here, listeners, is that it's subconscious reprogramming. That is the number one habit, right there. So lean into that, figure out where and how and when you're going to do that and stick with us, because this is what elevate our program is all about. We're running two of them again in the new year, so this is where the number one habit comes into play.

Speaker 4:

On that note, cheers to Good Karma. It's closing time.
